Pricing

How pricing works

A cooling job is priced to the house, not to a catalog. This page names what moves the number. Your written quote carries the amounts.

  • What decides the price

The same repair costs different amounts in different houses. These are the things that move the number.

    • The size of the system, from a load calculation and not from the old unit

    • Efficiency level, and one-stage or two-stage equipment

    • Duct condition and any changes to the ducts

    • Roof, attic or slab access

    • Electrical work, the city permit and removal of the old unit

  • What the written quote includes, and what it doesn't

The quote lists the work line by line, the equipment by model, the permit, the removal of the old unit and the warranty terms in writing. It also says how long the quote holds.

    • Not included unless it is listed: duct replacement, electrical panel work, repairs to the roof or house

    • If we find something outside the quote, we show it to you and quote it separately first

  • What happens at the visit

A technician or advisor looks at the system and the house, measures, checks the ducts and asks what bothers you. When you book, we tell you whether the visit has a fee and whether it is credited toward the work.

    • Rooms, windows and the roof or attic are looked at

    • Ducts, electrical and the old equipment are checked

    • You say what the house does in July

  • After hours

Emergency visits outside business hours depend on the crew's capacity. When you call, we say whether we can come that night and whether it costs more, before anyone is sent.

  • When you get the number

In writing, after the visit and before any work starts. If the work changes, you see a changed quote and agree to it first.

  • How and when you pay

The quote says when payments are due and how you can pay. Nothing is due before you have the written quote in your hands.

About the quote

What does the visit cost?

When you book, we tell you whether the visit has a fee and whether it is credited toward the work. You get the price in writing before any work begins.

Should I repair or replace?

We show you what failed and how old the system is. A repair on a young system often makes sense; repeated repairs on an old one may not. You decide with the quote in your hand.

How do you decide what size system I need?

From a load calculation of the house: the rooms, the windows and which way they face, the insulation and the ducts. A bigger unit is not a better one; an oversized system shuts off too soon and leaves the air clammy.
