Cooling, heating and ducts in El Paso
Tell us how old your system is and when someone can be home. We call back to set the visit, look at the house, and write down what we find before any work starts.

What we do
Most calls are for a refrigerated air system that stopped cooling or a swamp cooler on its last summer. We also do heating, ducts and rooftop units for small businesses.
It runs but doesn't cool, ices over, trips the breaker or keeps shutting off. We find the cause and show it to you before we fix it.
A matched system sized to the house, not to the old one. The quote lists the equipment by model and what is included.
Start-up in spring, shut-down in fall, pads, pumps and leaks. We also say so when a cooler is past fixing.
Attic and slab ducts that leak, sweat or never reached the back bedroom: tested, sealed or replaced.
Gas furnace and heat pump checks before the first cold nights, and repairs when the house won't warm.
Rooftop and split systems for shops, offices and restaurants, with visits set around your opening hours.
Swamp cooler or refrigerated air
Many houses here still have a swamp cooler on the roof. It works well in dry weather and badly in the damp weeks of monsoon. Here is the plain comparison.
| Swamp cooler | Refrigerated air | |
|---|---|---|
| How it cools | Swamp coolerWater soaks pads, and a fan pulls outside air through them. | Refrigerated airA compressor and refrigerant carry heat out of the air in a closed loop. |
| Damp weeks | Swamp coolerCools less when the air is already damp, as in the monsoon. | Refrigerated airKeeps cooling, and takes moisture out of the air too. |
| Windows | Swamp coolerA window or two open so the air can leave. | Refrigerated airClosed. The house stays sealed. |
| Dust and pollen | Swamp coolerOutside air comes in; the pads catch some dust and need cleaning. | Refrigerated airAir passes through a filter you change. |
| Yearly upkeep | Swamp coolerPads, pump and water line in spring; drained and covered in fall. | Refrigerated airA check of the coils, charge and drain before summer. |
| Power and water | Swamp coolerUses less electricity and uses water. | Refrigerated airUses more electricity and no water. |
Switching over
Many swamp cooler houses were built with one large roof or wall duct and no way for air to return. Refrigerated air needs ducts sized for it and a path back to the unit. At the visit we check what is there, say what can stay, and quote what has to change, line by line.

A year in El Paso
For a house in the dry desert. The dates move a few weeks with the weather.
We book spring checks and quote replacements while the schedule is open. You tell us which room never cools and when you can be home.
We start swamp coolers in April and check refrigerated air before May. You turn the thermostat to cool on a mild day and make sure it works.
We take repair calls and tell you when we can arrive. You change the filter, and call if a swamp cooler leaves the house clammy.
We drain and cover swamp coolers in October and check furnaces. You ask for a furnace check before the first cold night.
Utility rebates
The utility runs efficiency programs for qualifying equipment. Amounts, rules and dates are the program's and they change, so we don't print them here. We read the current rules when we write your quote.

From customers
“The cooler on our roof was original to the house. They explained what the ducts needed before anyone climbed up, and the quote matched the final bill.”
“The system ran all night and the house stayed warm. He showed me the dirty coil and the failed part, then fixed it that afternoon.”
“They worked on our rooftop unit before we opened, so customers never noticed. Itzayana told us who was coming and when.”

A swamp cooler is a box on the roof or in a window with a water line and pads, and the house needs a window open to cool. Refrigerated air has an outdoor unit with a fan and an indoor coil, and the windows stay shut. Not sure? Ask on the form and we will tell you at the visit.
When you book, we tell you whether the visit has a fee and whether it is credited toward the work. You get the price in writing before any work begins.
We show you what failed and how old the system is. A repair on a young system often makes sense; repeated repairs on an old one may not. You decide with the quote in your hand.
Programs have rules about equipment and dates, and the rules change. We check the current ones when we write your quote and mark what the program asks for.
Juanita, Haydee, Israel and Itzayana do. Ask for Spanish when you call and we will send someone who speaks it.
